Stuart Leadley (Chairman)

Since first being elected to the then Ashburton Electric Power Board in 1986, Stuart has held various governance roles within Electricity Ashburton. This included being part of the group that promoted and fine tuned the model that ultimately put in place the co-operative structure that we all now appreciate as owners of Electricity Ashburton.

Stuart has also been involved in a variety of voluntary roles in youth groups, education, sports administration and industry representation. He currently chairs the Mid Canterbury Rugby Union board and is an elected member of the Ashburton Trust Board.

Ian Cullimore

Ian has been a Shareholder Committee Representative since 2003. He has owned and operated Cullimore Engineering for 31 years. Ian is also a member of the CPIT Employers Advisory Committee and the Ashburton Heart Foundation.

Jim Lischner

A career banker of 35 years Jim has been employed in Mid Canterbury in banking and finance for over 25 years and has a very good understanding of the district and the needs of the community. Jim has been a Trustee since 2005.

Sandra Curd

Sandra commenced her role with the Shareholders' Committee in 2011.

Sandra farms in a family partnership on a spray irrigated, mixed farming property at Winchmore. Sandra is currently President of the Ashburton A&P Association and enjoys an active involvement with voluntary groups around the district.

Bruce McPherson

Bruce’s exposure to the electricity market came about during his tenure as CEO Ashburton Trading Society Limited. This experience included negotiation of large supply agreements first with Contact Energy then Meridian Energy. Bruce is currently a Council member of the NZ Cooperatives Association representing electricity and irrigation companies and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Chris Robertson

Chris is a partner in the Ashburton law firm Russell Moon & Fail. He is an Ashburton District Council appointee to the shareholders committee.

David Ward

David runs a spray irrigated cropping and stock finishing farm near Fairton with his wife Hilary. He has been a member of the Shareholders' Committee since 2006.

John Tavendale | BAg Sc FNZIPIM (Reg) 

John is Chairman of the Board of Directors.

John is a high profile farm management consultant and a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management. With his family he farms an intensive horticultural and arable property in Mid Canterbury. He is an equity investor in a local dairy farm and is retained as a consultant by many hill and high country properties in New Zealand.

A past Director of Landcorp, John Chairs a large privately owned farming company and the New Zealand Blackcurrant Co-operative among other farming directorships.

Gary Leech | BCom FCA AFInstD 

Gary is Deputy Chair and also chairs the company's Audit Committee. 

Gary is a professional director and Chartered Accountant. He was awarded Fellowship of NZICA in 1996. Gary has a wide range of skills and experience in many industry sectors. He was admitted as an Accredited Fellow of the Institute of Directors in 2010.

Murray Frost | BE (Hons) ME MIPENZ CPEng IntPE AMInstD

Murray is a Consulting Engineer with extensive experience in both management and technical roles within Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM). Over the last 15 years Murray has been appointed as a Director to a number of electricity lines companies, various council owned contracting companies, and several other companies. Murray is currently Chairman of Lakeland Park, a youth camp in Queenstown, and has been the Chairman of Trustees of the James Hargest High School.

Phil McKendry

Phil is a farmer based in Mid-Canterbury and company director.  He has governance experience in an Ashburton based farm supply buying group and in large scale community irrigation development. Phil was appointed as a director in 2004.

Ray is a Christchurch-based consultant specialising in infrastructure and asset development strategies, predominantly for public sector clients in New Zealand and Australia. Ray has been a director since 2008.
